Seedlings

Confused by the number of baby gadgets out there?  Curious as to which toys really do help your babies' development?  Spend no more!  Parents and caregivers are the best and most effective playmates for infants, but often we are so busy trying to figure out the "to do's" of parenting that we forget to get down on the floor and just play!  This six week course takes you back to the basics and teaches you simple exercises you can do with your baby to promote motor skills, sensory integration, and bonding during the early months.  After practicing these exercises, we will relax your babies by demonstrating Shantala massage techniques.  With babies worn out and restful, moms will have the chance to discuss a variety of topics related to the early stages of parenting including feeding, sleeping, safety and developmental milestones.  This course is designed for babies 6 weeks - 6 months.

Shantala Baby Massage

The SHANTALA baby and child massage technique is a well-respected ancient massage technique, from which most other infant massage methods have developed. Defined by its simplicity and mesmerizing rhythmic movements it is relaxing, enhances a baby or child's sense of security, their sleep patterns as well as their immune-systems. It also promotes a healthy bonding process, and helps with self-regulation.

As a technique that was passed down from mother to daughter for centuries, SHANTALA Massage is something that each parent can do. It is an easy to learn routine that one can perform without any knowledge of the body's more specific anatomy. The technique is without any manipulation and/or muscle work, just a series of gentle, relaxing, rhythmic strokes. One could define the SHANTALA Massage technique as a natural way of touching and relating to one's baby. It is effective for children that naturally love to be touched, but also for babies and children that have difficulties accepting touch.  Classes will run with a minimum of four participants.  Contact Alisha at (403) 805 - 7180 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it  to learn about available dates and times.
